I bet I’m not the only one who turns into a sports enthusiast after a breakup, even if it wasn’t a full-blown relationship. That’s exactly what went down about 2 months ago.
After two days of drowning in tears, I felt the irresistible urge to escape the confines of my house and go for a walk. Conversation was not on my agenda, but the cool breeze against my face was non-negotiable. As I meandered through the park, eyeing up runners striving for greatness, I had a lightbulb moment – why not give running a shot? (Despite my track record of epic fails, of course.)
After a lightning-fast decision (literally two minutes tops), I downloaded an app aptly named ‘From Couch to 5k’ – I mean, could it be any more perfect for a couch potato like me? The next day, with my trusty AirPods and running shoes in tow, I hit the pavement. Oh, that first day feeling – it was like a warm hug from the universe, just what I needed: a pinch of control and a dash of non-failure.

Sure, the initial runs were manageable, but after a couple of weeks, reality struck. Running isn’t all sunshine and rainbows; turns out, it’s more about discipline – something I’m not exactly swimming in, if you catch my drift. So, I made a vow for 2024: to transform into a self-disciplined ninja.

Care to take a wild guess? Yep, you got it – still pounding the pavement. About to tackle my first race next week. Keep those fingers crossed for me!
